Volunteers
“The thing that unites the volunteers is our love for the program.
And we help each other.” – a SERT volunteer

Volunteers are the mainstay of SERT. They are an integral part of each lesson. “Side walkers assist the rider while “front walkers, make sure that the horse is doing what he’s supposed to. This enables the instructor and the rider to focus on the lesson.
SERT’s volunteers also help care for the horses, exhibit never-ending support and enthusiasm, and help in numerous other activities. Volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds and but share the joy that comes from giving of oneself. Some have prior experience with horses, but that is not a prerequisite to helping in the program.
All volunteers receive on-the-job, in-depth training. SERT is fortunate to maintain a core group of volunteers who are always ready and willing to explain and demonstrate necessary skills.
Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older.
