About SERT

Special Equestrian Riding Therapy (SERT) was founded in 1987 by a group of individuals that sought to improve and enrich the lives of children with special needs through the use of horses.

It is a highly respected, active therapeutic riding program, serving children and adults with disabilities.

SERT is a PATH International Center Member.

SERT is a community-oriented, non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation.

Through regular sessions, therapeutic horseback riding can improve:

  • Attention span
  • Speech and other communication skills
  • Self-confidence
  • Balance, coordination, and muscle strength
  • Self-control

Participants become more independent. SERT gives them the opportunity to practice skills needed to face fears, communicate feelings, and access strengths. Riders excel at adaptive games from atop SERT's gentle giants, where learning becomes fun!

SERT lessons are conducted under the guidance of Registered Instructors certified by PATH International.
